Paul was born in Christchurch and educated at St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, Sacred Heart College, Auckland and Victoria University of Wellington.

His initial Assumptionist formation – novitiate and philosophical studies – took him to Boston and then to Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. After studying theology at Holy Cross Seminary and Mount Saint Mary’s Greemeadows he was ordained priest at Holy Family Church, Porirua East.

In 1978 he began teaching at Bishop Viard College, Porirua – Religious Education, English, Geography and Social Studies. He also served as the dean of Years 10, 11 and 13; the Director of Religious Studies and Deputy Principal.

In 1995 he returned to Boston for post-graduate studies in Religious Studies and Theology at Boston College. He was also a teaching assistant and tutored graduate students in Pastoral Ministry and Religious Education.

Since 2005 he serves as Our Lady of Fatima’s assistant priest.
